Top 5 Off-Stage Falls
In honor of Ariana Grande’s most recent fall last weekend during one of her Sweetener tour shows, Music Buzz compiled a list of the top 5 off-stage falls in recent memory.
It is important to note that Ariana Grande isn’t hurt. She recently tweeted, “Oh my. At least, I still made the button. I’m crying. Things were going too well.”
5. Paula Abdul – Biloxi, Mississippi (2018)
While performing at Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, Mississippi, Paula Abdul took one too many steps in the wrong direction. She tumbles off the front of the stage toward the end of the video.
This was part of Abdul’s “Straight Up Paula!” tour in 2018. She does have a well-documented history of chronic pain and reflex sympathetic dystrophy, but luckily, she wasn’t hurt during this fall.
Abdul is currently performing “Forever Your Girl” in Las Vegas, Nevada from November 2019 to January 2020. Catch her live at the Flamingo.
4. Justin Bieber – Saskatoon, Canada (2016)
Justin Bieber falls on and off-stage all the time. He is somewhat of a reckless performer, but none of his other falls beat the time he fell through a trap door in Saskatoon, Canada in 2016.
Bieber made a joke immediately following his fall, saying, “Good thing I’m like a cat and I landed on my feet. Oh my lord. That scared the [expletive] outta me.”
He is not currently on tour, so don’t expect any upcoming falls in 2020.
3. Lady Gaga – Las Vegas, Nevada (2019)
This year, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Lady Gaga got a little too creative with one of her fans. After inviting him up on stage, the two started the dance together, which eventually ended with him dropping her off the stage.
She was performing “Enigma” at the newly-built MGM Park Theater. Gaga jokingly asked the fan, “Can you promise me something? Can you just forgive yourself right now for that happening? It takes two to tango. We fell into each other’s arms. We’re like Rose and Jack in the Titanic.”
Lady Gaga will remain in Las Vegas for most of 2020.
2. Dave Grohl – Las Vegas, Nevada (2019)
Speaking of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dave Grohl fell off the stage for the millionth time in his career after attempting to no-hands chug a beer off of his stereo equipment. Grohl failed, spilled the beer, called a party foul, chugged the beer, and fell off the stage while attempting to climb back up from the short drop-off area.
Las Vegas must bring out the worst in performers. Or, the best? Thankfully, Grohl wasn’t injured during this fall like he was when he broke his leg in Sweden. The former drummer for Nirvana really knows how to party.
Grohl’s current band, The Foo Fighters, are playing at the Intersect Music Festival in December of 2019 and Boston Calling in May of 2020.
1. Madonna – Brit Awards (2015)
No one beats Madonna at anything related to live performance, even falling off the stage. Due to a wardrobe malfunction, Madonna was yanked backward off the stage after her cape didn’t come loose in 2015 at the Brit Awards.
This fall is scary to watch, but Madonna wasn’t hurt. Unfortunately, she is not having the Vegas success she wanted in 2019, as fans booed her for starting her concert two hours late. But hey, it’s Madonna, right?
