Ed Sheeran Claims Four Spots on Top 40 Official Charts

After the completion of the first half of 2017, the Official Charts reveal the top music of 2017 thus far.
2017 is a good year for Ed Sheeran, as he leads the Official Charts. “Shape Of You,” one of Ed Sheeran’s double-single releases leads the race with 2.6 million units shifted across all formats. 72% of that figure is streaming equivalent sales, while the remaining 28% is digital downloads.
This makes “Shape Of You” the best-selling song of the first half of 2017 and sets a new record for UK’s most streamed song of all time. “Shape Of You” already has 2 billion views on YouTube.
Claiming the second-biggest song of year is Ed Sheeran’s “Castle On The Hill” with 1.5 million equivalent units sold – 455,000 downloads and 105 million streams.
Two more Ed Sheeran songs appear on the list. “Galway Girl” placed fourth with 1 million combined sales and “Perfect” placed 29th with just under a million equivalent units.
